;A food supply company in Singapore, Suvai Foods, is facing three charges for alleged failures to maintain cleanliness on its premises, where live cockroaches were reportedly discovered among chutney packets and in the chapati-making area. The charges indicate lapses in ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness, with cockroaches found in various locations, including a basket containing Suvai Coconut Chutney packets, the chapati-making area, and on a food processing machine.
The company, founded in 2012 in Singapore and specializing in vegetarian and halal products, is accused of stained and dirty premises with broken floor tiles. Additionally, its office space was allegedly illegally modified for use as a packing area. Three live cockroaches were reportedly found at the rear of the company’s registered goods vehicle.
The prosecutor from the Singapore Food Agency is seeking fines for each of the charges. If convicted, Suvai Foods could face fines of up to SGD 5,000 for failing to ensure the proper maintenance and cleanliness of its establishment. The case is scheduled to be heard again in January.
