Tyson Foods Inc., headquartered in Berryville, Arkansas, has initiated a voluntary recall of approximately 29,819 pounds of fully cooked, breaded chicken patty products following reports of potential metal contamination. The recall comes in response to consumer complaints, and it has been announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recalled product in question is the frozen “Fun Nuggets” in the shape of dinosaurs, which were produced on September 5, 2023. It is sold in 29-ounce plastic bag packages labeled as “Tyson FULLY COOKED FUN NUGGETS BREADED SHAPED CHICKEN PATTIES.” The affected packages have a “Best If Used By” date of September 4, 2024, and bear the lot codes 2483BRV0207, 2483BRV0208, 2483BRV0209, and 2483BRV0210. The packaging also displays the establishment number “P-7211” on the back.
This product was distributed to various states, including Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin, for further retail distribution.
The issue came to light when Tyson Foods informed FSIS of consumer complaints regarding the discovery of small metal pieces within the chicken patty product. While one minor oral injury related to the consumption of this product has been reported, FSIS has not received additional reports of injuries or illnesses.
Consumers are strongly urged not to consume these recalled products, and they should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. Given the concern that some of these products may still be in consumers’ freezers, it is essential to check for and remove any affected items. Anyone worried about potential injury or illness resulting from this product should contact a healthcare provider.
Tyson Foods is taking this proactive measure to ensure the safety of its customers, emphasizing the importance of product quality and safety. The company is cooperating fully with the FSIS to address the situation and prevent further incidents.
