In response to recent testing by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Le Grand Fromage and  Springbank Cheese Co. are voluntarily recalling their Gorgonzola Truffle Cheese products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall is being undertaken to ensure the safety of consumers.

Consumers are advised:

  • Check their homes for the recalled cheese with the specified label information.
  • Discard the product if found.
  • Refrain from consuming the recalled product.

Symptoms of Listeria Infection: Consumers who have consumed the recalled products should monitor themselves for symptoms of Listeria infection, which can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Symptoms may appear within weeks, and it can take up to 70 days after exposure for listeriosis symptoms to develop.

Medical Attention: If anyone who has eaten the recalled product experiences symptoms of Listeria infection, they should seek medical treatment promptly. It is crucial to inform healthcare providers about possible Listeria exposure. Pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and individuals with weakened immune systems, such as cancer patients, are particularly vulnerable to serious illnesses, life-threatening infections, and other complications associated with Listeria.

Listeria monocytogenes may not alter the appearance or smell of contaminated food but can lead to severe and potentially life-threatening infections.
