SSS Brand Mushroom (Enoki) Recalled Due to Listeria Contamination – Urgent Warning Issued to Consumers

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced the recall after discovering the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the product. This bacterium poses a serious health risk, especially to vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

In response to this alarming situation, consumers are urged to take the following measures without delay:

  1. Cease Consumption and Distribution: Refrain from consuming, serving, using, selling, or distributing any SSS brand Mushroom (Enoki) products immediately. Check your homes, restaurants, and other establishments for any potentially affected items.
  2. Contact Healthcare Provider: If you suspect you may have consumed the recalled product and are experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, or neck stiffness, contact your healthcare provider promptly.
  3. Dispose of Recalled Products: Safely dispose of any recalled SSS brand Mushroom (Enoki) products by discarding them immediately. Alternatively, return the items to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Symptoms of Listeria Infection:

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness, especially in pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The symptoms of Listeria infection may not always be apparent and can include: Vomiting, Nausea ,Persistent fever, Muscle aches, Severe headache, Neck stiffness.

Risk to Pregnant Women:

Pregnant women who contract Listeria may experience mild flu-like symptoms, but the infection can lead to more severe complications such as premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or stillbirth. General Information: Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not show visible signs of spoilage or have a noticeable odor. However, consuming contaminated food can still result in illness.
