The affected product is being recalled from the market because it may allow Clostridium botulinum to thrive. The recalled product was offered for sale in Quebec. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s inspection actions led to this recall. This product has not been linked to any illnesses.

Clostridium botulinum:

Food tainted with Clostridium botulinum toxin can still make you unwell even if it doesn’t appear or smell bad. Children who have foodborne botulism may experience paralysis, trouble swallowing, impaired speech, and widespread weakness. Adults may experience facial paralysis or loss of facial expression, unresponsive or fixed pupils, trouble swallowing, drooping eyelids, blurred or double vision, speaking problems, including slurred speech, and a change in voice quality, including hoarseness. There is never a fever associated with botulism. People may pass away in circumstances of extreme illness.
