Bauman’s Country Meat Shop Canada has issued a voluntary recall of their Summer Sausages due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacterium. The affected products were distributed in Ontario, Canada.

Recalled Products:

  1. Large Summer Sausage: 1 count (~7 lb), UPC 0200200 338006, Packed On 2024.JA23, Best Before 2024.AU10
  2. Small Summer Sausage: 1 count (~3 lb), UPC 0200202 422000, Packed On 2024.JA23, Best Before 2024.AU10

These products were sold at Bauman’s Country Meat Shop located at 824 Elderslie Arran Line, Dobbinton, Ontario.

Concerned Actions:

  • Consumers are strongly advised not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled products.
  • Recalled items should either be disposed of safely or returned to the point of purchase.
  • Individuals who suspect illness resulting from the consumption of these sausages should contact their healthcare provider immediately.

Symptoms of Listeria Contamination: Listeria monocytogenes contamination may not be apparent through visual inspection or odor detection. Symptoms of illness can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. In severe cases, illness may lead to complications including premature delivery, infection of newborns, or even stillbirth.
