Various batches of popcorn kernels have been recalled due to elevated levels of aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a class of mycotoxins that are produced naturally by moulds. They can flourish on a wide range of crops and foods, frequently in warm, humid environments.
Mycotoxins can have a wide range of harmful health effects including cancer kidney and liver damage, gastrointestinal problems, reproductive problems, and immune system suppression.
