The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for Nut Works brand Raw Whole Pistachios (150 g) due to potential contamination with Salmonella. These pistachios were distributed in Ontario and are associated with several lot codes and best-before dates ranging from April 2025 to October 2025. The affected products, identified by the UPC 803871 603801, may not exhibit any visible signs of spoilage, but consuming them can lead to serious health risks.

Salmonella infection can cause symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. While healthy individuals might recover within a few days, vulnerable groups such as young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are at risk of severe and sometimes fatal complications. Long-term health issues like severe arthritis may also arise.

Consumers are advised to check their homes for the recalled pistachios. The products should not be consumed, used, sold, served, or distributed. Any recalled items should be discarded or returned to the point of purchase. If you suspect you have fallen ill after consuming these pistachios, it is important to seek medical attention promptly.
