Norovirus Contamination in Oyesters

Te Matuku Oysters Ltd is expanding its recall to include additional batches of its Premium Export Grade Pacific Oysters in Half Shell and Oyster Meat due to potential norovirus contamination. The affected products have a use-by date of 28 August 2024 and batch number 24343.

  • Batch Numbers: 24342, 24343, 24344
  • Use By Dates: 27.8.24, 28.8.24, 29.8.24
  • Package Description:
    • Oysters in Half Shell: Clear plastic tray with wrapping
    • Oyster Meat: 200g glass jar
  • Distribution Locations:
    • RAW at Waiheke, 4 Putiki Road, Ostend, Waiheke Island
    • Waiheke Specialty Food, 28 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke Island

The recall has been initiated after reports of potential norovirus contamination, which can cause gastrointestinal illness. The affected products were distributed only locally on Waiheke Island and have not been exported.
