Listeria monocytogenes prompted the recall of Frozen Manicotti in the USA.
Caesar’s Pasta has recalled frozen manicotti due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was the result of a normal sampling procedure that found that the product may contain bacteria.
The product was sold to restaurants in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Southeastern New York, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The product is marked as Not Ready to Eat. and to eliminate the bacteria product must be cooked at 160 degrees as declared on the label.
The bacterium has the potential to cause serious infections in young children, the elderly, and persons with weaker immune systems. Short-term symptoms in healthy people include high temperature, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea; it can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
