Kraft Heinz recalls thousands of Capri Sun pouches over cleaning solution contamination. Kraft Heinz issued a voluntary recall of more than 5,700 cartons of Wild Cherry flavored Capri Sun drinks that were contaminated with cleaning solutions used on food processing equipment, the company announced in a statement Friday.
Kraft Heinz discovered the issue when customers started complaining about the taste of the affected Wild Cherry Capri Suns.
Customers are encouraged to return the drinks if they think they were tainted with the cleaning solution.
The company says that a diluted cleaning solution used on food processing equipment got into the product on the production line in one of its factories.
The products have a “best when used by” date of June 25, 2023 on the pouches and on the carton. Throw out any recalled products or return them to the store where they were purchased.
Kraft Heinz statement said. The affected products are individual foil juices pouches that are sold in paperboard cartons, according to the statement.
Kraft Heinz is recalling about 5,760 cases of the drink, saying the only flavor affected was Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages. Cases are made up of four cartons, which usually have 10 pouches, meaning more than 230,000 individual drink pouches could have been affected.
No injuries attributed to the contaminations were immediately reported.
“The company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove the potentially impacted products from circulation,” the statement read.
