Totally Cool, Inc. Recalls All Ice Cream Products - Yavapai, AZ

A major ice cream manufacturer has initiated a voluntary recall of dozens of products due to concerns they may be contaminated with the harmful bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.

Maryland-based Totally Cool Inc. announced the recall after routine testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detected potential contamination. The affected products span several brand names and include a variety of ice cream cakes, cones, sandwiches, and pints.

Listeria Monocytogenes Risk: Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous bacterium that can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In pregnant women, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
