Sprouts Farmers Market, in collaboration with Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc., has issued a voluntary recall of its Gyro Family Kit sold in select Sprouts stores due to a potential Salmonella contamination in the cucumbers used within the tzatziki sauce.

The recall was initiated after Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc., the supplier for the Gyro Family Kit, informed Sprouts Farmers Market of a potential Salmonella contamination in the cucumbers used in the product’s tzatziki sauce.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious illness in humans, especially in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection can result in more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
