Tyson Foods, Inc., based in Berryville, Arkansas, has initiated a voluntary recall of around 29,819 pounds of fully cooked, breaded, shaped chicken patty products due to potential contamination with extraneous materials, specifically metal pieces. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) made the announcement following reports of consumer complaints.

The affected product is sold in 29-oz. plastic bag packages labeled as “Tyson FULLY COOKED FUN NUGGETS BREADED SHAPED CHICKEN PATTIES,” with a Best If Used By date of SEP 04, 2024, and the following lot codes: 2483BRV0207, 2483BRV0208, 2483BRV0209, and 2483BRV0210. The packaging bears the establishment number “P-7211” on the back.

The recalled products were distributed to Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Consumers are advised to check their freezers for these products and not consume them.

The issue came to light after Tyson Foods received consumer complaints about small metal pieces in the chicken patties. While there has been one reported minor oral injury associated with the consumption of this product, no additional injuries or illnesses have been reported to FSIS.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Tyson Foods is cooperating with FSIS to ensure the effectiveness of the recall and is working to notify customers about the issue.
