Cape Herb & Spice Seasonings Recalled Due to Plastic Contamination

30 January 2025 – Piccadilly has issued a recall for specific batches of Cape Herb & Spice brand Himalayan Pink Salt, Seasoned Salt, Salt & Pepper, and Sweet & Smoky BBQ due to the possible presence of foreign matter (plastic).

Affected Products:

The recalled products are imported from South Africa and have been distributed in selected supermarkets and retailers across New Zealand. The details of the affected batches are as follows:

  • Himalayan Pink Salt (390g) – Batch Number 542884, Best Before 25 Mar 2027
  • Seasoned Salt (240g) – Batch Number 532516, Best Before 07 Mar 2026
  • Salt & Pepper (310g) – Batch Number 544041, Best Before 20 Mar 2027
  • Sweet & Smoky BBQ (230g) – Batch Number 532500, Best Before 12 Dec 2025

These products are sold in plastic jars, and no other Cape Herb & Spice products are affected by this recall.

Consumer Advice:

Consumers are advised not to consume the affected products. While no injuries have been reported, anyone who has consumed these seasonings and has health concerns should seek medical advice.

Customers can return the recalled products to the retailer for a full refund.
