Malichita Cantaloupes Recalled Due to Salmonella Risk

Pacific Trellis Fruit, LLC has announced a voluntary recall of 4,872 cases of Malichita brand whole cantaloupe due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall comes in response to the ongoing FDA investigation into an outbreak associated with Malichita brand cantaloupes. Salmonella can cause severe infections, particularly in vulnerable populations. Symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (potentially bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can lead to more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
