The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a significant recall of six popular energy drink brands, including Ghost, Fast Twitch, C4, Bang, Cocaine, and Ryse Fuel, due to non-compliance with caffeine content and labelling requirements. All flavours containing caffeine, as well as those lacking bilingual labelling, are subject to the recall.
Health Concerns Prominent: Consumers who have consumed these beverages and suspect that they may have fallen ill due to excessive caffeine content are urged to seek immediate medical attention and report their concerns to the CFIA.
Multiple Brands Impacted: In addition to the mentioned brands, another batch of energy drinks was also recalled on July 12th for the same reasons. The affected brands include 3D Alphaland, 5 Hour, Celsius, GFuel, Prime, and Sting.
Risks for Vulnerable Groups: The government has highlighted that high caffeine levels can lead to adverse health effects, particularly for children, pregnant individuals, breastfeeding individuals, and those sensitive to caffeine. Moreover, the combination of exercise and caffeine consumption may also result in unwanted health consequences, such as insomnia, irritability, headaches, and nervousness.
Consumers are advised to be vigilant about these recalls and take appropriate action to safeguard their health. For more information and updates on this recall, please visit the official CFIA website.
