Custom Made Meals, LLC, a Denver-based company, is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,345 pounds of bacon-wrapped jalapeno products due to misbranding and the undeclared presence of milk, a known allergen. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) made this announcement today after an issue was brought to their attention.

The bacon-wrapped jalapeno products were produced on August 30, 2023, with an incorrect product label affixed to the packaging. These products were labeled as “Bacon-Wrapped BBQ Seasoned Chicken Grillers” with a “USE BY 21-SEPT-23” code date.

Key Details:

  • Product Description: Variable weight black plastic trays with clear top film containing “Bacon-Wrapped BBQ Seasoned Chicken Grillers”
  • Recall Reason: Misbranding and undeclared milk allergen
  • Production Date: August 30, 2023
  • Establishment Number: “M4121A/P-4121A” inside the USDA mark of inspection
  • Distribution: Shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas.

The issue came to light when the producing establishment was notified by a retail store that the product had the incorrect label.

As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. However, consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. Instead, they should be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS is actively monitoring the recall to ensure affected products are no longer available to consumers. Retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls as they become available.
