Shiga toxin:
Although the infection can occasionally result in non-bloody diarrhea, sometimes it can result in bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps. A complication known as a hemolytic uraemic syndrome can also be brought on by the infection in elderly people and children under the age of five.
