Ethylene Oxide: Recall of two Mie Sedaap spicy noodle products from Indonesia
Due to the presence of ethylene oxide, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has ordered Sheng Sheng F&B Industries Pte Ltd to recall Mie Sedaap Korean Spicy Soup instant noodles and Korean Spicy Chicken instant noodles. There has been a recall.
After Haagen-Dazs ice cream products were found to contain ethylene oxide in August 2022, SFA investigated various food goods, including instant noodles, for the presence of ethylene oxide. With the exception of Mie Sedaap instant noodles, no food product tested for ethylene oxide contained any. This prompted SFA to examine Mie Sedaap items for compliance so that we might take enforcement action. Ethylene oxide has so far been proven in two brands of instant noodles: Mie Sedaap Korean Spicy Soup and Korean Spicy Chicken.
SFA is still putting various Mie Sedaap quick noodle products through regulatory testing. In order to identify and address the ethylene oxide contamination’s root source, we are also collaborating with Indonesian authorities, importers, and authorities. SFA will start recalls of the implicated products as a precaution if ethylene oxide is found in excess of the permitted limit values.
