In a significant food safety alert, over 14,000 units of the “Astronaut Strawberries” snack have been voluntarily recalled due to concerns over elevated lead levels, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall, announced on Thursday, September 12, was initiated by American Outdoor Products, Inc., based in Boulder, Colorado.

The recalled products are part of a Class II recall, indicating a potential health risk if consumed. The affected strawberry snacks, sold individually or in cases ranging from six to 160 units, carry “Best By” dates extending through 2027. These snacks were sold in various states, including Kansas, and may have also been included in the “Outerspace Survival Dessert Kit.”
