Ireland – Dunnes Stores has issued a recall of all batches of its Simply Better Irish Brie Cheese, Rocket & Cranberry Quiche (800g pack size) due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The cheese used in this product was sourced from Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese.

Reason for Recall

This precautionary recall follows previous alerts (2024.62, 2024.58, and 2024.59) regarding potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination in cheese produced by Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese. The recall has been initiated to protect consumer health and ensure food safety.

Nature of Danger

Infection with Listeria monocytogenes can cause mild flu-like symptoms, including:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea

In severe cases, it can result in more serious complications, especially for vulnerable groups such as: Pregnant women, Babies, Elderly individuals, People with weakened immune systems

The average incubation period for Listeria monocytogenes is 3 weeks, but it can range from 3 to 70 days.

Action Required by Consumers

Consumers are advised to:

  • Not consume the affected quiches.
  • Dispose of any affected products safely.

Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale locations to inform customers of this issue.
