Issue

The recall was initiated due to possible contamination of the affected oysters with Norovirus, a highly contagious virus causing gastroenteritis. Norovirus is spread through contaminated food or water and direct contact with infected individuals.

Health Risks

People infected with Norovirus typically develop symptoms 12 to 48 hours after exposure. Symptoms include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting (more common in children)
  • Nausea
  • Stomach cramps

Additional symptoms may include low-grade fever, headache, chills, muscle aches, and fatigue. Most people recover within 1-2 days without lasting health effects. However, severe dehydration may require medical attention and hospitalization.

Consumer Advisory

Consumers are advised to take the following precautions:

  1. Check your inventory: Verify if you have the recalled products in your home or business.
  2. Do not consume: Recalled oysters should not be consumed, used, sold, or distributed.
  3. Dispose or return: Dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase.
