Chicken products were recalled in Ireland due to the presence of Salmonella.

Western Brand is recalling expired batches of raw chicken products owing to the presence of Salmonella Typhimurium. These products have passed their use-by date; however, the labels state that they are suitable for home freezing.

Salmonella Infection:

Salmonella can cause serious infections in young children, the elderly, and people with weak immune systems. The symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. In rare cases, Salmonella infection can cause the organism to enter the bloodstream and cause more serious diseases like endocarditis, and arthritis.
