Allen’s, an Australian confectionery, has announced the comeback of its Frosty Fruits & Drumstick collection, a popular lollipop that debuted in 2018. After the 2018 debut became one of the most successful, Allen’s team has teamed up with ice cream behemoth Peters to bring the fan-favorite back.
Frosty Fruits will be available in Tropical, Summer Sunset, and Watermelon Slice flavors, with Drumstick lollies available in Classic Vanilla, Super Choc, and Boysenberry Swirl.
Carla Spadafora, Marketing Manager at Peters Ice Cream, stated that our association with Allen’s Lollies was extremely successful when it originally appeared in 2018. So when the opportunity to bring back these fan favorites arose, we couldn’t say no! The lollipops retail for $3.60 in 170g packs in Coles, independent supermarkets, and convenience stores across the country.
In November, the company declared that its popular Jelly Beans were now 100% vegan. Until now, the treats have been produced with carmine, a food coloring manufactured from cochineal beetles. The beetles are dried, crushed, and boiled before being used to color lollipops of any color. Allen’s says their jelly beans will now be colored with plant-based components including beetroot and paprika.
The announcement was made initially on a popular vegan Facebook page, where fans expressed their delight. Consumers are excited to try new goodies, and they are happy that Allen has changed their old recipe. A product can be made vegan by changing one small ingredient, which is something that people would like to see. In the future, hopefully, more products will become vegan-friendly, with carmine being the single ingredient that prevents them from being vegan.
