A Woolworths customer has accused the retailer of Woolworths of trying to gaslight Australians over the price of a popular children’s food.
By posting on Facebook, the customer slammed Woolies for having a sign advertising the cheap price of its Smiths Snack Mix Box, which contains 20 tiny packs of well-liked chips. Woolworths presently sells the boxes for $8.90 in-store and online, which is much pricier than competitors.
Coles and BIG W both have packs priced at $6.50, making Woolworths $2.40 or 37% more expensive. The packets’ estimated price in June 2022 was $5.75.
Woolworths spokesman told 7NEWS.com.au that the grocer is committed to offering discounts across the board. And we continue to focus on providing the best value to our consumers. We decreased the price of over 300 summer grocery staples as part of our Prices Dropped campaign, in addition to the 5,000 deals we offer every week. This contains several Smiths Chips 175g packs, which are now $2.50. Prices Dropped for Summer will be available till February 21, 2023.
