Enoki mushrooms have been recalled by Green Day Produce due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Green Day Produce, Inc. of Vernon, CA is recalling Enoki Mushroom sold between September 2022 and October 2022 because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes. Distributors and retail establishments received the recalled Enoki Mushroom from all around the country. So far, no illnesses have been recorded in association with this issue. The product’s distribution has been put on hold.

The symptoms of a listeria infection are fevers, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea, it can also result in miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The possibility of contamination was detected after the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development obtained a retail sample and examined it, finding Listeria monocytogenes in a 200g/7.05 oz. package of enoki mushrooms.
