Consumers reported metal shards in Home Run Frozen Pizza leading to an immediate recall in USA

  Home Run Frozen Foods recalled 13,000 pounds of frozen pizza recalled because of potential metal contamination. According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, Home Run Inn Frozen Foods in Woodridge, Illinois is recalling their frozen pizza that might be contaminated with pieces of metal. The recall was issued after the company reported to FSIS that customers had called and complained that metal was found in pizza.

The recalled pizzas are Home Run Inn’s Chicago Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic,   actually produced on June 6, 2022, and sold in 33.5-ounce cartons with a best-by date of  3rd December  2022. Boxes are marked “Est. 18498-A” inside the USDA’s stamp of inspection. The  FSIS informed that there have been no confirmed reports of injuries or adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. However, If someone has one of the affected pizzas in their freezer, they are encouraged to throw them away or return them at the point of purchase. Additionally, distributors and retailers are urged not to sell these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. They were shipped to distributors in Illinois “then further distributed to retailers.” FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ freezers or found at distributor and retail locations.

The recalled pizza specification is  33.5-ounce Home Run Inn Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza, with a best-by date of 12/03/2022. The establishment number on affected products is EST. 18498-A, which can be found in the USDA mark of inspection on the product.
